AKA: Ernesto Enrique Carralero, Ernesto Carralero
Ernesto Enrique Carralero (December 29, 1999 – May 25, 2022), better known by his stage name ohtrapstar, was an American rapper and songwriter coming out of Miami, Florida. He is also cousins with fellow Florida rapper Lil Ominous and childhood friends with Lil Pump, who Trap and Ominous also viewed as their cousin.
ohtrapstar first started releasing music in 2017, with some of his earliest known releases coming in October of that year. It wouldn’t take long for him to gain traction as on November 10, 2017, ohtrapstar released his breakout hit single, “Choppa.” The song instantly started to blow up, solidifying ohtrapstar as a rising force in the underground Florida scene. His success wouldn’t come without controversy though as fans started to notice the similarities in both lyrical content and delivery between “Choppa” and Comethazine’s song “Piped Up,” which had been previewed just one month prior.
Starting off 2018 with the release of “Groovie,” ohtrapstar continued to consistently release music throughout the year, building his fanbase as he went. With more popular songs such as “Lights Off,” “Wok,” “Lean” and “Red Dot” to name a few. On November 9, 2018, ohtrapstar released his first extended play, This Will All Make Perfect Sense One Day.
ohtrapstar wouldn’t slow down going into 2019 with the release of his debut mixtape, 1%, on February 2, 2019. This project was a hit among fans, with notable songs like “Deposit” and “Aliens.” ohtrapstar continued to find and polish his sound with every release. He ended off 2019 with the release of “Polar Bear” on Christmas day, his most anticipated song at the time.
On June 5, 2020, ohtrapstar released his debut studio album, A Star Was Born. This album featured notable songs such as “Slatt,” produced by fellow Florida artist RONNY J, “Xprmnt” and the aforementioned “Polar Bear.”
In 2021, ohtrapstar went on to release two projects, February’s Heaven On Earth and October’s Ultra Violet. He continued to further his sound with each release, experimenting with the rising rage-subgenre at the time.
On May 20, 2022, ohtrapstar released what would be his final project, Morning Star.
Just five days later on May 25, 2022, ohtrapstar sadly lost his life alongside two of his friends in a fatal car crash. He was 22 years old. He passed alongside Bayle Pricilla Bucceri, aged 23, and Candido Miguel Barroso-Nodarse, aged 22. His passing would come as a shock to the world, with his cousin Lil Ominous making a tribute post to his Instagram, alongside many other of his close friends, family and colleagues.
Since his passing, the ohtrapstar estate has released only a couple of singles, those being “Cherish,” “Pocket Rocket” and “My Love.”
