OGz

AKA: Organised Grime

OGz (Organised Grime) is a Lewisham, South East London-based grime crew and the brainchild of Essentials member Jendor, who had originally intended to bring through a younger generation of talented grime MCs by collaborating with them on an album. However, he and N.E ended up breaking off from Essentials around 2006, and set up the new venture together. Joined by a whole host of youngers including several former members of Fatal Assassins, OGz organically evolved from a one-off project into a crew.

The album, OG Season Vol. 1, dropped in March 2008 as a self-release on the label Original Godz, and introduced MCs P Money, Dot Rotten, Desperado, Little Dee, Blacks, Stormer and Pro to a wider audience. Dot, who grew up around Essentials and first cut his teeth as an MC while attending their radio sets, also handled much of the album’s production, as did close affiliate of the crew, Crayzee Banditt. Other producers enlisted in the project included Sir Spyro and DJ Garna.

More members would later enter the fold including Ruger (UK) and Mega Montana. Following N.E’s untimely illness and death in 2009, P Money, Blacks and Little Dee continued to record prolifically under the OGz name into the 2010s, frequently paying homage to their mentor.
