Edward Powers (OGI.EJay) is a 20 year old rapper from Baton Rouge, LA born on November 29th, 1996. Growing up he was exposed to all genres of music. Wether it was from always being with his older brother and being the youngest kid in the party or being with his mother going from church to church. By always being around older people his knowledge and mindset was far more advanced than his peers which is why he is so well spoken. Up until February of 2016 when he decided to pursue rap, EJay was a great basketball player. After trying to transfer schools, the NCAA made him ineligible to play. Since being an athlete was his only motivation to be in school he decided to take his last refund check from the semester and buy a mac laptop. Every since then he strives to make it out of his city but in a different way. Coming from Baton Rouge, his style of music is very different so making it out may be harder than it is for most. He’s influenced mostly by artists like J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Logic, and mostly artist who have purpose and substance in their music. EJay plans to shed a different light on the type of artists that make it out of Baton Rouge. Being different can be a blessing and a curse.
