Baboucarr (Babou) Gaye (born October 11th, 2002), known for his stage name Bazz, is an American rapper, songwriter, and activist from New York, NY.

He has a huge passion in rapping and becoming a musical artist since he was a child. He is very well-known for his rap style and promoting strong messages. He is also shown to be very smart. He graduated from the Bronx High School of Science in 2020 and will be attending the University at Buffalo in September.

At the age of 16, he wrote and released his first official single, Chains, along with his high school friend Crimmy Banks. This single touches upon racial inequality, which was an enduring issue still shown today. Although it wasn’t known when it was released in 2019, Chains gained a lot of attention at the wake of the #BlackLivesMatter protests the following year.

After Chains was released, the two artists formed the SoundCloud rap duo BHAMCITY, releasing tracks on the platform. Then, on March 2020, Babou released his second official single Freezing, a collaboration with Diablo de York, on all platforms. His most recent single Graduate was released a few months later in honor of the Class of 2020.

Aside from his music career, Babou was involved in a handful of activities in high school. He was the Vice President of its Student Body. Prior to that, he worked with the S.O Cabinet for two years. He was also on the school’s award-winning Model UN Team, where he was honored with Outstanding Delegate on November 2019. Outside of school, he is currently part of the New York Civil Liberties Union.
