Nox Arcana is a music artist renowned for creating haunting, gothic-themed soundscapes with classic horror references, strong literary influences, original captivating storylines, hidden riddles and elaborate puzzles. The project is the musical manifestation of gothic fantasy artist Joseph Vargo. The name Nox Arcana is derived from two Latin words, which roughly translate to ‘mysteries of the night’.

Vargo initially formed Nox Arcana with fellow musician William Piotrowski in 2003, and together they recorded 10 albums, with their third album “Winter’s Knight” reaching #8 on the Billboard Holiday Album Charts. In 2009, William moved to Los Angeles to score independent films, and Nox Arcana became the solo project of Joseph Vargo, though William still adds his engineering expertise to many of the releases.
