Nicholas Tyler Strunk (born January 16, 1990), professionally known as Nicholas Tyler, is an American singer, songwriter, recording artist and independent producer from Michigan.
He began releasing music in the early 2000s under his birth name, Nicholas Strunk, distributing cover-based mixtapes on homemade CDs before transitioning into original songwriting with his debut studio album, The Long Road Ahead (2006). Throughout the late 2000s he independently released the studio albums Anticipating (2007), Eye Candy (2008) and This Is Me (2009), promoting his music through MySpace, SoundClick and self-made CDs.
In 2010, he adopted the stage name Nicholas Tyler and released The Single’s Collection, a compilation of his early singles. He continued experimenting with electronic pop, ambient music, dance and R&B on later albums including Schizo (2011), Everything Comes From a Lie (2013) and Twenty Four (2014).
After stepping away from music following a serious illness in 2015, Tyler returned with standalone singles while developing the concept for Seattle Palm, a fictional city that became the centerpiece of his eighth studio album. Released in 2024, Seattle Palm marked his first studio album in ten years and introduced a new era of conceptual storytelling.
In 2025, Tyler began the rollout for his ninth studio album, Red Hot Midnight. The era included a year-long series of singles such as “Moonlit Night,” “Lovelust.,” “Pandemonium,” “Deep” and “Be Still.” Released on June 26, 2026, Red Hot Midnight expanded on Tyler’s electronic pop sound with darker themes, cinematic production and R&B influences.
Known for remaining independent throughout his career, Tyler has released music on CD, SoundClick, MySpace, SoundCloud and major streaming platforms while continuing to write, record and produce his own material.
