Newfane is a Boston-based rock band formed in 2014. The band began as an acoustic duo featuring Chris Rigopulos and Greg Huang of Honest Bob and the Factory-to-Dealer Incentives. Drummer Alex Rigopulos and bassist Greg LoPiccolo would join the band later, turning it into a full four-piece group, with Buzz Burrowes replacing LoPiccolo in 2019. The band’s website describes their sound as “dark and melodic”, with themes of “middle-age death, despair, and destruction” and musical influences such as R.E.M., Pixies, Sebadoh and Pink Floyd.

The band has close ties to the video game company Harmonix, most famous for series such as Guitar Hero and Rock Band. Alex Rigopulos is Harmonix’s former CEO and current creative director, Chris Rigopulos is their current COO, and Greg LoPiccolo has been a longtime project director for the company. Furthermore, Newfane’s songs “I Recognize” and “Don’t Let Her Go” are both available as downloadable content for Rock Band 4.

Newfane has released six EPs to date: 4 Miles to Harmonyville, Perfect Design, Wellness Center, Sky Blue Hell, The End of Times and All Goodbyes Are Lies.
