Nettspend
AKA: Nett, 6unner, 6unnex, Gunner Shepardson
Gunner Shepardson (born March 18, 2007), professionally known as Nettspend, is an American recording artist, songwriter, and model from Richmond, Virginia.
Nettspend began his music career in 2017 under the moniker 6unnex, mostly featuring on tracks with friends. In October 2022, Nett began taking music more seriously and released his debut track, “#nemk,” exclusively on SoundCloud. By the end of that year, he rebranded as Nettspend.
In a 2023 interview with underground personality tightundercoverjeans, Nettspend explains where his stage name was derived from:
my shi was [some] dumb shit like a year ago then I changed it idk I was jus thinkin like net like internet but it fr jus came from [Netspend] the card
With support from his childhood best friend and fellow Richmond artist zuro, Nettspend connected with key collaborators such as New York artist xaviersobased. Nett also later became associated with xavier’s collective 1c34, which helped boost his popularity in the underground scene.
On May 28, 2023, Nettspend released his debut mixtape KiCKDOOR featuring artists such as Yungster Jack, phreshboyswag, and kasper gem. A deluxe edition of the tape was followed shortly on June 8, 2023, expanding the project with four additional tracks.
Sometime in 2024, KiCKDOOR was unexpectedly removed from all streaming platforms with no explanation from Nettspend, leaving only “U told us quit” and “That Sh*t Wont Easy” available on his SoundCloud.
Nettspend first gained recognition in September 2023 with a viral Instagram preview of his track “drankdrankdrank,” resulting in him gaining huge popularity in less than a year. The snippet, reposted by a underground news page, gained millions of views. Upon its release, the song quickly went viral, receiving over a million plays on SoundCloud and more than four million plays on Spotify. “shine n peace” would also follow the same vitality as “drankdrankdrank,” after a clip of xaviersobased dancing along to the song during a live performance gained attention. Although fan reception was negative at first, it would shift positively with the release of songs such as “We not like you,” “2024 Freestyle,” and “Wake up” which features close collaborator and friend OsamaSon who would also share similar success online.
Entering into 2024, Nettspend would release the biggest song of his career, “nothing like uuu,” as the ok-produced song immediately went viral through social media. That same year, Nettspend would also release his second biggest song, “That One Song,” to which it also went viral thanks to the song’s sample usage “Entombed” by Deftones. However, after a short amount of time, “nothing like uuu” and “That One Song” would be removed by Warner Music Group, allegedly due to the samples included in both songs being uncleared.
After the removal, Nett would continue to release new music, while continuing to capture the success of his earliest and his biggest hit singles. “F*CK SWAG” would then be released on October 2, 2024, featuring a Lyrical Lemonade music video, as the lead single to his upcoming album. Thanks to this, Nett landed a deal with Grade A Productions and Interscope Records and shortly after signing released his debut commercial mixtape BAD ASS F*CKING KID on December 6, 2024.
Although Nettspend would have a very quiet year in 2025, he would release the song “Impact” with xaviersobased, as well as the EP gone too soon, which featured both “stressed” and “her friends,” all of which would gain virality through social media. That same year, he had been teasing the release of his debut studio album early life crisis, originally planned to be released on February 27, 2026, but was instead released on March 6, 2026.
Shortly after the release of early life crisis, Nettspend would surprise his fans with a compilation album titled HIM, originally released on April 30, 2026, through his alternative SoundCloud page. The compilation album would then see an official release on streaming platforms on July 3, 2026.
In a 2024 interview with i-D, Nettspend reflected on who his musical influences were and stated Chief Keef, Lil Uzi Vert and Young Thug as his primary inspirations:
Growing up in Richmond, Nett was surrounded by music; his dad was a country singer with a “really good voice.” He’s influenced by the guttural drill pioneer Chief Keef and vocally acrobatic weirdos like Lil Uzi Vert and Young Thug, but he also liked pop.
