Nathan Evans, born on December 19, 1994, is a British singer from Airdrie, Scotland, known for singing sea shanties and making acoustic covers and alternative folk songs.

Nathan began his online career in 2011, not as a musician but as a graphic designer and animator on two channels, EvanssDesigns and EvanssDesignz, where he posted short clips. In 2012, he created his music channel, where he made covers of popular songs as a hobby until early 2021. He began independently releasing some of his covers and original music in August 2020 via Bandcamp. In the same year, he released his debut self-titled EP. His early original compositions include “Memories”, “YOU.” and “Hollywood.”

Nathan first gained fame in December 2020, when he posted videos of himself singing sea shanties on social media service TikTok. He posted his first sea shanty, “Leave Her Johnny” to TikTok in July 2020. In the following months, viewers of his videos continued to request more sea shanties, leading Evans to posting videos of himself singing “The Scotsman” and “Wellerman”.

In 2021, he signed a deal with Polydor Records and released a cover and dance remix of the 19th-century shanty “Wellerman” which peaked at the top of the UK Singles Chart and also charted in several other countries.

On December 3, 2021, Evans released his Christmas themed EP named “Merry Christmas Everyone” which includes covers of popular Christmas songs and the New Year song “Auld Lang Syne.”

On November 4, 2022, Evans released his debut album “Wellerman” which included his hit song, an original song “Haul Away”, a remastered version of “Leave Her Johnny” and many more shanties and remixes.

In 2023, Evans transitioned from Polydor to Better Now Records and on September 13, 2024, he announced his second studio album, “1994”, which features primarily original Scottish folk songs, with the exception of the first three singles. Just a few months after the release, on January 3, 2025, he would release the single “Old Man’s Grace” announcing the deluxe version of the album which released on February 21, 2025.

On July 4, 2025, Nathan teamed up with the band Saint PHNX, releasing a series of singles with them. This collaboration led to the release of their album “Angels' Share” on January 16, 2026, followed by the acoustic EP “Last Orders” on March 20, 2026.
