Nafeesisboujee
Nafees Mohammed Hossain (born January 7, 2005), also known as Nafeesisboujee, is a rising indie-pop artist, songwriter, and producer from Cape Town, South Africa.
In an interview with Tmrw Magazine, Nafees stated how he got his name when he was choosing his PlayStation gamer tag.
It’s actually funny because the name was one of my options when I was choosing my Playstation gamertag when I was 13, in middle school. I wanted a cool name, something that any middle schooler wants to be. But honestly I had no idea what to choose. My favourite producer at the time had boujee in his name (he was also like 15), so I kinda took it from him. “Bad and Boujee” by the Migos was still fresh at the time, so said “fuck it, nafees is boujee it is”
Nafees started releasing music in middle school, recording, mixing, and mastering his tracks on BandLab. He was inspired by the Odd Future era and early SoundCloud rap. He was rapping as a side hobby because he wanted to focus on school and college at the time, but he didn’t start taking music seriously until October of 2024, just recently, when his music began to go viral on social media.
The song that helped elevate Nafees' name within the industry was “Stephanie”, the track immediately blew up on social media, especially TikTok, with the audio garnering over 94 thousand reels attached to it, he released this song after moving to the U.S., and while still being in college at the well-known academic school, Fordham University. This really began to lift off his career and put him into mainstream talks, after the release of his viral track, Nafees would continue to release a stream of songs throughout the year, and singles such as “spin u round”, and “Hailey” would also reach immediate traction, and all tracks following that.
Due to his success, Nafees was able to score a deal with 10K Projects.
On April 25th 2025, after months of teasing his EP, Nafees would release his debut studio EP, yours truly, nafees, the EP consists of ten tracks, and five features from artists such as berryblue, Curtis Waters, melodybloom, Phendste, and Yung Fazo.
Growing up, Nafees listened to and was inspired by artists such as Michael Jackson, Tyler The Creator, Steve Lacy, and Odd Future, he also was inspired by the group’s sketch comedy television series, Loiter Squad.
Nafees also stated in his interview on how he would also like to work with d4vd in the near future.
