Born in El Paso, Texas, Mykel Hawk is a Mexican American rapper best known for his raspy-voice, vivid storytelling, creative wordplay, pointed social commentary and unshakable reverence for the Hip-Hop culture. He is a self-produced rapper, crafting the majority of the beats in his songs himself. Mykel spent over a decade sharpening his abilities as an emcee by touring with and opening for legendary artists such as The Roots, De La Soul, Common, KRS One, The Beatnuts, The Arsonists and The Pharcyde. Mykel Hawk is heavily influenced by the “Golden Era” Hip-Hop of the 80’s and 90’s and his music embraces Hip-Hop’s evolution while remaining true to the art of emceeing and the codes of Hip-Hop’s elements that he considers inseparable from the music itself.
Mykel now resides on the East Coast, US. In 2019, he began work on his next release G.M.S. which he released in Feburary of 2020, just before the Covid-19 pandemic hit the United States.
