My Ruin is an American alternative metal band from Los Angeles, California, formed by husband and wife duo Tairrie B and Mick Murphy.
The band first began in February 1999 when vocalist Tairrie B launched a new project after the breakup of her previous band, Tura Satana. She initially envisioned it as a solo venture, describing it as a band driven entirely by her own vision.

“The band won’t just be called Tairrie B, but it will be a solo thing – just like Nine Inch Nails is really just Trent Reznor… It’s all down to me now. If it fails, then I won’t have anyone else to blame.”(Kerrang, 1999)

Recording for the debut album Speak and Destroy began the same month.
