Mike Posner

AKA: Michael Posner, Michael Robert Henrion Posner

Michael Robert Henrion Posner, known as Mike Posner, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer born in Detroit, Michigan, United States.

Posner has never shied away from telling folks where he’s from. Growing up with childhood friend Big Sean, music quickly grabbed his attention. Garnering fame in August of 2010 with 31 Minutes to Take Off, he has quickly established himself as not only a singer of pop music but also a songwriter to big names.

He first gained attention in the music world after his dorm room-written track that he wrote while attending Duke hit airwaves via YouTube. He quickly began releasing new material, and his mixtapes held top spots on iTunes U charts for several weeks.

He has worked on two sophomore albums, Skyhigh and Pages, that ended up being shelved, but he has, in the meantime, written for stars such as Labrinth, Justin Bieber, Maroon 5, and Nick Jonas.

Posner worked on the third version of his sophomore album, which is titled At Night, Alone, released on May 6, 2016. The album featured the global hit “I Took a Pill in Ibiza,” which became an international success after being remixed by Seeb, reaching the Top 10 in 27 countries and peaking at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Posner released a collection of poems titled Tear Drops and Balloons in 2018, followed by his third album A Real Good Kid in 2019. That same year, he embarked on a walk across America, a six-month journey that saw him surviving a rattlesnake bite in Colorado before completing the trek at the Pacific Ocean.

In 2021, Posner took his personal transformation further, summiting Mount Everest to raise funds for the Detroit Justice Center.

In 2025, Posner released his latest album, The Beginning, which includes the single “Beautiful Day.” The album reflects his journey of self-discovery, discipline, and healing, further solidifying his reputation as an artist unafraid to evolve.

Beyond his solo career, Posner is also one-half of the alternative hip-hop duo Mansionz alongside Blackbear, with whom he released a self-titled album in 2017 and a sequel in 2023.

From mainstream success to personal reinvention, Posner continues to push boundaries, inspiring fans with his resilience, honesty, and artistic versatility.
