Shanna van Loozenoord or better known as mermaidonmars, is a half-Dutch, half-Hungarian singer-songwriter, born March 13 2004.

She chose ‘mermaidonmars’ as stage name because ever since she was a young child she adored mermaids and loved to watch shows like H2O: just add water and Mako Mermaids. Hence to Mars being the planet of war and also the Roman god of war, she chose that as part of her stage name. She thinks that her songs sometimes have a really ‘warlike’ vibe.

She released her debut single “shooting her” in November 2023 and her debut EP, Like A God, in December 2024. She produced and wrote her first projects all by herself. But she’s currently working with studio-producer Synthetic and signed a contract with Hallwood. Her debut studio-recorded album, Spellbook was released mid-December 2025.

Besides writing songs, Shanna also loves to write poetry. Ever since she was young she loved to scribble down her thoughts and feelings. So now it’s nothing but deserved that she gets praised for her unique lyricsim.
