MEEWAKCHING is an indie rock band from Imphal, Manipur, India. Formed in 2018, the band members consists of Silheiba Ningombam as the lead vocalist, guitarist and lyricist; Dingku Sorokhaibam on the guitars; Swami Laimayum as the bassist; Ronald Sorokhaibam on the drums; and Sanahal Phairenjam as the violinist, keyboardist and backing vocalist.

Although MEEWAKCHING was officially formed in 2018, the band traces its origins to 2017 when most of its current members collaborated on the debut single “Khallui”. The following year, the second single “Nang gi Eshei” was released on October 5, 2018, under Silheiba Ningombam and his band, before the group formally established themselves as MEEWAKCHING with their third single in 2019.
The third single, “Taibangduna Changlaktringei Manglanshida Ngaihak Leisi”, was released in August 2019 and would go on to become the band’s most successful and widely known release which has gained over 1.7 million views on YouTube. It was later added to the album ‘’Awabagi Seireng Ahum Loinana Nungaibagi Eshei Amai‘’.
