matt proxy (born September 2006) is an American recording artist and producer reigning from Minneapolis, Minnesota, known for his usage of experimental sounds in his music.

Matt has been making music since 2019, under various aliases including “cloudedmatt” and “mwru,” but has first gained traction in late 2024 with the song “wtf do i gotta do to get my bitch back” going viral on social media.

In early 2025, Matt released his debut EP under the “matt proxy” alias titled beating a dead horse, where he showcased fans a staple self-produced sound moving forward in his career. He would continue to release music, up until the release of the song “catfish,” which would help solidify the artist to new heights, gaining attention from the likes of fakemink, JPEGMAFIA, and Playboi Carti.

In 2026, Matt earned a spot in the 2026 Underground Sound Cypher, where his verse on “Passion” (specifically the second half) would gain attention online thanks to his very distorted sound. He would go onto release his debut studio album trojan horse on June 19, 2026.
