Ontario-born songwriter Chris Greenwood is better known as the artist Manafest. Greenwood kicked-off his career with the Misled Youth EP followed by his debut record My Own Thing not long after, which showcased his rapping ability to boom-bap beats as well as occasional grunge rap tracks.

My Own Thing caught the ear of fellow Canadian rock artist Trevor McNevan of Thousand Foot Krutch, which landed Greenwood a deal with BEC Recordings. This led to a rebranding of Manafest’s first record into Epiphany, which featured McNevan on the track “Skills”. On Glory and Citizens Activ, Manafest continued to make hip-hop centric tracks that occasionally delved into the rock rap that caught people’s attention.

This led Greenwood to shift his sound comfortably in the rap rock on the 2010 record The Chase which is the most successful Manafest record to date. A couple years later, Manafest released Fighter which continued the momentum of its predecessor in the rock genre. Greenwood ended his time with BEC Recordings on the record The Moment which started to dive back into his hip-hop roots while still allowing for some rock inspiration to be felt throughout.

Reborn began Greenwood’s independent journey having the record completely crowd-funded. Since then, Greenwood has bought back all of his masters releasing them under Manafest Productions. While initially desiring to alternate between rap, rock, and pop, Manafest has released a record just about every year finding success in the alternative and stadium rock camp.
