His songs, mostly recorded live, winnow his music down to its most essential ingredients: a moment, a feeling and a level of poetic intensity akin to Leonard Cohen or the writings of Rumi.

In late 2019, Luke released the critically acclaimed Good Bye Folk Boy. Within weeks of its release Luke had found management, a booking agent and was booked to play SXSW. Lead single ‘R.O.B.Y.N.’ was played on BBC6 music by Cerys Matthews and ‘I’m A Dream Fighting Out Of A Man’ was picked up by Bob Boilen of NPR who described it as ‘just one of those songs’.

In the months that followed, Luke played shows across Europe and America with the likes of Sam Amidon, Jessica Pratt and Laura Gibson, selling out his first headline show in Switzerland atGeneva’s Antigel Festival. Luke went on to secure support slots with legendary artists such as Cat Stevens at Montreux Jazz Festival and Jose Feliciano at SXSW.

With 2020 came a temporary hold to live shows and Luke directed his touring focus towards recording; internalising what he had learnt from those initial travels and exploring his new found voice. The resulting output was a three part collection which was later entitled ‘The Folk Boy Trilogy’.

Good Bye Folk Boy, Eucharist and Sublime were each critically acclaimed in their own right and though each record is a Universe unto its own, together they form something bigger. A single cohesive journey from despair, agony and pain, through reflection, into light. Of the trilogy Luke explained: ‘the first is the snapping of a mirror, the second a coming to terms, the third is the light through the cracks.’

In recent years Luke has established a burgeoning following, thanks in part to the likes of Spotify who’ve championed him in their ‘Most Beautiful Songs in the World’ playlist on three separate occasions, with R.O.B.Y.N., I Gave You All My Love and An Honour. R.O.B.Y.N. recently surpassed 1.3million streams on Spotify.

In 2020, Bob Boilen heralded Luke as one of ‘Ten Acts to Catch at SXSW’ praising his authenticity, his poetry and claiming that I’m A Dream Fighting Out Of A Man is ‘just one of those songs.’

Clash Magazine declared Luke a ‘rising song-writing force’ and his fourth album in fourteen months ‘Extended folk boy playlist’ put to rest any claims to the contrary.
