Lonely Cortell

AKA: DxwnNoir, ST. Noir, Sir Lonely Boi, LXI Vortex, Cristian F. Gomez, Cris F. Gomez

Cristian F. Gomez (born November 2, 2005), better known as Lonely Cortell, is an underground rapper, singer, and songwriter from Green County, Monroe, Wisconsin, signed to EXTACY and Avion Records.

Lonely began making music in 2019, uploading his songs to YouTube and SoundCloud under the name Lil Vortex which he would later change to LXI Vortex in 2020. His early work would lean heavily on the emo-rap sub-genre, taking inspiration from artists such as the late XXXTENTACION, the late Juice WRLD, Trippie Redd, and iann dior.

Today, Lonely’s music mainly takes inspiration from the 2020’s rage rap movement led by figures such as Playboi Carti and his OPIUM affiliates, Ken Carson, and Destroy Lonely. Other influences include Pluggnb architects, Auttumn!, Summrs, and Lil Shine, as well as other artists such as Che, Glo, and 2hollis.

Throughout the course of 2019, Lonely would release various singles before delivering his debut EP THE D0WN3R in May of 2020. This was later followed up by his sophomore EP Far Gone in November before announcing his debut full-length project at the end of the year. Some standout tracks from this time period were “Let Go”, “Burning Roses”, and “drippin like a faucet”.

In 2021, Lonely initiated the rollout to his debut album and would also feature on tracks with other aspiring artists in his hometown. Lonely would make his debut on Spotify and Apple Music that summer, and release his third EP BLACK H3ART before ending the year off with his debut album Dear Earth, Fuck U. By this time emo-rap was seen as Lonely’s main genre with tracks such as “So Far Gone”, “Stay”, ”Revenge”, and “Colder” being the standout tracks of that year. However, Lonely was set on turning that around the following year.

Kicking off 2022, Lonely alongside his now disbanded collective DARK SINS released their final project DARK SINS, VOL. II, with tracks such as “Hello Then Goodbye", “uhLone!”, and “Sir Lonely Boi” being some of the standout tracks, showcasing a more aggressive, and lively side of him. Not long after, he would announce his sophomore album titled Reverse, which aimed to be his most diverse and versatile project yet, however it was scrapped following a break-up, which led to nothings different being announced as his sophomore album. Lonely would release “see u never” and “enemy” as lead singles, as well as an EP titled i don’t wanna be here when you love me again serving as a teaser for what the album would sound like. The album’s singles would put up decent numbers, with “see u never” introducing the pluggnb sound to his discography, and being the standout track of that year.

2023 was a huge year for Lonely, as he rebranded from LXI Vortex to Lonely Cortell, and released his sophomore album nothings different on January 13th. The album’s success spawned three EP’s leaning into the pluggnb sound while also teasing the release of another major project before the year’s end. only the best times kicked off the summer followed by ferris wheel nights, which served as a prequel to nothings different. sorry, no admissions would release at the end of the summer, compiled of throw-away tracks that “didn’t make the final cut on the conclusion.” In the fall, Lonely began the rollout to the next major project by releasing “hope you die” and “goodbye my love” before revealing nothings different (Deluxe) as the next major project, and releasing it at the end of the year.

In 2024, Lonely would dwindle his internet presence, and embrace a newfound dark aesthetic before announcing the title for his next full-length album as New Dawn. He would then release his eighth EP THE D0WN3R 2, followed by his collaborative mixtape with vxncnt! WASTED, before ending the year with “RUN IT BACK”.

At the start of 2025, Lonely would sign to SAVAGE mvl’s Avion Records, and release “BLANC” as his first single of the year. The rollout to New Dawn would kick off in March with “No Bands” as the lead single, followed by “Symbiote” in May. Lonely would also contribute to producer Keepitsaint’s album PÜNK STATUS with “FASHO’” and “MONEY HABITS”.
