AKA: Lalisa Manobal (ลลิษา มโนบาล), Pranpriya Manobal (ปราณปรียา มโนบาล), LISA (BLACKPINK), LALISA

Born in Buriram, Thailand as Pranpriya Manobal on March 27, 1997, Lalisa Manobal (ลลิษา มโนบาล) is a member of South Korean girl group BLACKPINK, which was formed by YG Entertainment in 2016.

She grew up in the Buriram Province and was raised by her mother and stepfather. During her childhood, she was a member of a Thai dance group titled We Zaa Cool along with BamBam of GOT7 and Ten of NCT 127.

In 2010, she auditioned for YG Entertainment in Thailand because she wanted to become an idol in South Korea. She later visited a fortune-teller with her mom and they told her to change her name to Lalisa, which means “one who is praised.” A week later, Lisa got the call and became a YG trainee in April 2011, making her the first international trainee of the company.

She was revealed to the public a year later through a dance cover of Chris Brown’s “Turn Up The Music.” The video was uploaded to YG’s YouTube channel with the title Who’s That Girl?, which was the catchphrase used for all the teasers of YG’s new girl group members. Its debut was delayed several years until June 8, 2016, when Lisa was confirmed as the second member of BLACKPINK.

On September 10, 2021, Lisa made her solo debut with the release of her self-titled single album, LALISA. Both tracks on the single album made it to the Billboard Hot 100, Billboard Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts.

A month after LALISA, she continued with her solo career and collaborated with French producer DJ Snake on “SG” with American-rapper Megan Thee Stallion and Puerto-Rican singer Ozuna.

On July 28, 2024, Lisa released her single “ROCKSTAR” under her own label, LLOUD. The song showed a new side of Lisa with enchanting synths and electric vocals. The music video was filmed in her city, Bangkok, and spread the diversity of her culture. The release had immediate great impact, as it showed Thai icons of the LGBT+ community and Thailand’s governor stated he was gonna improve the conditions of the film site, Bangkok’s China Town, making it more accessible for Lisa’s fans coming to visit.

Two weeks later, she released “New Woman” featuring ROSALÍA. The music video portrayed women’s daily struggles and learning to bloom from them. Magazines in the visuals revealed the album’s name, ALTER EGO, where LISA embodies different personalities according the mood of the tracks.

On October 3rd, 2024, the famous Mean Girls date, LISA reimagined the popular song “Kiss Me” by Sixpence None the Richer, calling her version “Moonlit Floor (Kiss Me)” in reference to the original chorus.

The next year, on February 7th, LISA released “Born Again” with Doja Cat and RAYE, which is part of the White Lotus' third season where LISA is having her acting debut.
