Jason Smith (born April 23, 1996), known as Lil Bean, is an American recording artist from San Francisco, CA. He signed a deal with EMPIRE in 2019.

Bean was raised in the Visitacion Valley area, around the formerly-Geneva Towers housing projects. Growing up listening to his father’s records, he absorbed the influences of that collection – including Bay Area rappers like Mac Dre and Messy Marv. His father was killed in 2007 when he was 11. In 2017, the quiet and reserved Lil Bean began releasing music of his own.

Bean had a regional hit with early track “Side of Me,” made in collaboration with close friend and fellow Bay Area rapper ZayBang and released on his 2019 debut mixtape NastyCampaign. This song put Lil Bean on the map, and he followed with tracks like “Down 2 Ride”, beginning to work on and release more mixtapes.

His track “Swervin' featuring ZayBang from Campaign 2 racked up millions of views, as did other songs with features such as DaBoii, Lil Pete, and more. Bean also worked with Zaytoven on the producer’s “Zaytoven Presents: Fo15” album, alongside other Bay Area artists and friends like ZayBang, Lil Yee, and Lil Pete.

Bean has since released other projects such as multiple collaborative works with ZayBang. His “Back to the Basics 2” project included “superbowl” with rising star EBK Jaaybo. He continued “Campaign” with a series of follow ups, most recently CAMPAIGN4EVER and CAMPAIGN4LOVE. The album “BNERKID” serves as a pseudo self titled project, named after his nickname inherited from his father. In 2025 he released a collaborative album, “Life A Trip,” with fellow Bay Area rapper Lil Yee.
