Kwachena Singine, AKA Kwase the Hippy is a Zambian rapper, producer and songwriter. Born in Kitwe and raised in Lusaka. As an all-time fan of hip-hop culture, mainly acts such as Kendrick Lamar, Nas, Eminem, 2Pac, The Notorious B.I.G. etc., he always aspired to take up a career in music. He started to write verses at the age of 15 in high school. His first real stage name ‘Ka$eT’ comes from cassette tapes which Kwachena and his father would frequently listen to when Kwachena was around 8. He eventually switched to Kwasé which was derived directly from his first name.
