KING SOL

AKA: Ben Solomon

KING SOL is the brainchild of Ben Solomon. Solomon grew up in San Francisco, listening to hip-hop by the likes of Drake and J. Cole. He started to write music in 7th grade.

While attending high school, Solomon used his lyrics to challenge the use of drugs, misogyny, and violence in popular music. He collaborated with classmates on a series of mixtapes until his breakout single DeLorean began circulating on Spotify. DeLorean was a school project that Solomon recorded on a USB microphone. It has now received millions of plays online.

In 2016, Solomon began studying computer science in college. He continued to release music and created the popular songs OFF AT IT and Bill Gates between exams. After graduating, he briefly lived in Los Angeles, writing songs for platinum-selling artists and major labels. Most of his time is now spent working as a product leader in tech, most recently at Google and Apple.

For Solomon, KING SOL will always remain a side project, an alter ego, and a business experiment. New music may trickle out in the years ahead — stay tuned.
