Markquez Lao Santiago (born April 11, 1988), better known by his stage name Kid Buu, is a rapper coming straight out of Jersey City, New Jersey. He later moved to south Miami, Florida.

Originally going by Humongous The God or HXTXG, Markquez has been making music as early as 2009, with some of his earliest available releases dating back to 2011 with Man Vs God. He continued to make music and build a name for himself throughout the years to varying success.

On February 3, 2016, Kid Buu released In Gwalla We Trust, a mixtape hosted by DJ Khaled. It featured a guest appearance from Takeoff of the Migos. Kid Buu released his final known project as Humongous The God on April 13, 2017 with Kaneda, later rebranding to Kid Buu by the beginning of 2018.

On February 13, 2018, Kid Buu released his breakout EP, Blind For Love. This release would gain Kid Buu his first bit of mainstream attention in June of that year with the song “Dead Roses.” The track created controversy when it was compared to NAV’s song “Wanted You,” featuring Lil Uzi Vert. Fans claimed that Kid Buu copied NAV’s flow and claimed it as his own, but Kid Buu ‘debunked’ this theory by showing that he had released “Dead Roses” in 2016, when in reality all he had done was switch one of his audio files on his SoundCloud account. He followed up this initial viral moment with the release of his soon to be hit single, “Death 2 Soundcloud.”

Just a few months later in a September 2018 interview with DJ Vlad, Kid Buu claimed that he was a second generation clone that had escaped his cloning facility. This news would break the internet, planting Kid Buu’s name and face everywhere. He quicky followed this viral success on September 17, 2018 with the release of his next hit song, “poppa.” This song landed him a placement on Genius' Verified series, where he broke down the lyrics to the track, creating more viral clips whilst doing so. He later ended off the year with the track “Momma,” which also performed well.

Due to all of his viral success, Kid Buu signed a record deal with Island Records. He released his first project under the label on February 14, 2019, with Blind For Love2.

On August 23, 2019, Kid Buu began the rollout for his upcoming debut mixtape, leading with the single “Sauce” featuring Lil Keed. Just a month later, Kid Buu found himself in controversy again, this time claiming that someone else had copied him. On September 20, 2019 through a now-deleted Instagram video, Kid Buu showed off the similarities between Trippie Redd’s “I Try” and his song of the same name, claiming Trippie stole and remade the song for his album !. A day later, Kid Buu released his version of the song onto his SoundCloud, following it up just a few days later with “Fuck Growing Up,” a diss track aimed towards Trippie and his alleged theft of “I Try.”

Following another viral moment, Kid Buu went on to release his debut mixtape, Revenge of the Clones, on November 8, 2019. It featured notable songs such as “Sauce” featuring Lil Keed, “Blunt” featuring Blac Youngsta, and the aforementioned “I Try / ++LuV $ick.”

Going into 2020, Kid Buu released Blind For Love3, the third installment in the Blind For Love series, on January 24, 2020. This would be his final release under Island Records, soon parting ways with the label afterwards. He’d continue 2020 out by releasing a slew of singles. He also started a Life Of Buu vlog series on his YouTube channel where he vlogged his daily life.

On May 3, 2021, Kid Buu released What The Game’s Been Missing, a 50-track compilation album. It featured guest verses from notable rappers such as Lil Gnar, Lil Xan, Smokepurpp, Soulja Boy, Tee Grizzley and others. The project was exclusive to his SoundCloud page and was later taken down for unknown reasons.

Kid Buu started off 2022 with the release of Blind For Love 4: A Perfect Luv Letter, the fourth installment in the Blind For Love series. He released a reversed version of the album 8 months later.

Going into 2024, Kid Buu has continued his cloning endeavors be releasing fake On The Radar performances where he uses a greenscreen to simulate the On The Radar backdrop and AI voice changers to replace his voice with other famous rappers, some including Drake, 21 Savage and XXXTENTACION. He also has released full on songs such as “Blessings” where he’s replaced his voice with an AI Future. He does still release songs using his own voice, such as February’s “RAKATAKI.”
