Justin Clardy

When he’s not working on his dissertation, JC creates music that meshes his life experiences with his current philosophical work. Clardy sees rap as an alternative medium to reiterate his points by expanding on the stories that influence his worldview.

Although he started making music in 2005 with artists such as Overdoz and Skeme, shortly after graduating high school in 2006, he moved to Connecticut to play basketball. While in Connecticut JC met Da Kidd PG and has continued to produce music with him since then. After a short stay in Connecticut and more stories to help shape his music JC returned to the west coast to attend Pepperdine University in Malibu California, a lot closer to his roots in Gardena California.

In 2014 JC released his first mixtape, Tweed Coats and Top Hats, which served as an autobiographical introduction to the artist as a philosopher and also as an audio version of his papers on love. The following year he released Correctangular, a four-song EP that serves as record of his creative process.

JC’s third mixtape, LA Player, is set to release on August 15th, 2016 but the lyrics can be read now. The first single, Phone sex, is available to listen to.
