The Junior Eurovision Song Contest (JESC) is a type of Eurovision Song Contest dedicated to songs made by people aged 9 to 14. Similar to the original Eurovision, the competition occurs in the form of annual contests which mainly revolve around various countries competing for victory by submitting an original song to be performed live in the contest’s host country. Citizens of the competing countries then cast votes for the other countries' entries to determine a winner.

The origins of a children’s international contest date back to the 2000s. Denmark’s DR hosted a children’s music competition named the MGP Junior in 2000 and 2001. The idea was followed by MGP Nordic which was a mini-Eurovision between Finland, Norway and Sweden.
