Jeris Johnson
AKA: Jeris, Jeris Donald Johnson
Jeris Johnson (born April 5, 1996) is an American singer-songwriter and producer from Eugene, Oregon, recognized for revitalizing rock and metal through hyperpop-influenced production and viral reinventions of 2000s classics. A former drummer for the band Audio Phobia, he rebranded a solo act in 2020, catalyzing his rise with 2021’s “Last Resort (Reloaded)”. His debut EP My Sword, featuring collaborations with Chad Kroeger of Nickelback, established his signature blend of nu-metal aggression and digital experimentation.
Johnson’s sound—a collision of Lam of God-style riffage, trap beats, and glitchy synthscapes—draws equally from video games (The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim) and genre-defying artists like 100 gecs. Tracks like “Dragonborn” and “Kryptonite (Reloaded)” showcase his “Arabian Riff” fixation, a motif critiqued as derivative yet central to his streaming dominance.
Beyond studio work, Johnson champions analog authenticity, realeasing limited vinyl pressings like “Ode to Metal” with holographic artwork. His 2024 headlining “When the Darkness Comes” tour sold out 32 dates, merging mosh pits with EDM-style drops. As debates swirl about his reliance on samples, Johnson remains unapologetic: “Rock used to break rules. I’m just updating the playbook”. With 2025’s “Here’s to the Years” teasing collabs with hyperpop pioneers, he continues polarizing purists while dominating rock’s digital frontier.
