Jaah SLT
AKA: Jamir Q. Rucks, Jamir Rucks
Jamir Quincy Rucks (July 21, 2000 – August 13, 2022), better known by his stage name Jaah SLT, was a rapper born in Columbus, Ohio, raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. He was most known for his breakout hit song “Tuff.”
Jaah started making music as early as 2019 with his first single “Fuck a Hook” releasing on January 5th. He released his first EP 6.28.19 on June 28th of that year.
Everything would change for Jaah on September 2, 2019 when he released his soon to be breakout hit song “Tuff.” The track went insanely viral on TikTok, spawning tens of thousands of videos using his song. He continued to release singles following his newfound success, with tracks like “In My Bag” also performing well. Around this time Jaah signed a record deal with Alamo Records due to his success.
Going into 2020, Jaah released his debut EP 2-7-20 on February 7th. It featured popular songs like “Y2k” featuring Eman SLT. Later that year on September 25th, Jaah released his debut album 9-25-20. It featured guest verses from artists like Young Nudy and various SLT members.
Jaah would continue to release singles throughout 2021, leading up to his sophomore album One Year Later releasing on December 1, 2021.
Going into 2022, Jaah became an independent artist once again, parting ways with Alamo Records. He’d release two singles in May of that year, “D.A.N” and “Gentleman.” These would unknowing be Jaah’s final songs.
On August 13, 2022, Jamir was shot and killed in Charlotte, North Carolina. He was 22 years old. On December 23rd, the Jaah SLT estate independently released his first posthumous EP, 12.23.22.
On July 21, 2023, the Jaah SLT estate released his first and presumably final posthumous album, JAAH WORLD. The album was exclusive to Jaah’s SoundCloud.
