Linzell Newton (born November 3, 2006), professionally known as ivvys, is a Nigerian-American recording artist, producer and engineer that carved his way to the music scene with his production and invention of sstepteam from Bridgeport, Connecticut.

Before the name, ivvys, he had other aliases. Those being, h4!/h4blackasf and ke11y/ki11joy as a “silly scene name” that he kept for two years until he switched to ivvys in 2022.

He switched to the name ivvys because of the ivy plant. In his life, he had seen them grow in his backyard before he moved and to him, it’s a “beautiful plant.” And when quarantine was prevalent in 2020, him looking at those plants had lifted down his depression.

When ivvys was still going by the name h4blackasf, he had a song with popular Floridian artist, jaydes. He had deleted said song because people were putting him in the shadow of jaydes. But when he switched to name ivvys, he has gathered a multitude of placements like from artists like Ken Carson, OsamaSon, Izaya Tiji, Lucy Bedroque and Jace!.

ivvys was also in a handful of collectives, with sstepteam being his most impactful work, he was also a part in welcome2heaven, COA, type_lumina–stylized as T//A–, and najma.

What made ivvys take a part of music production is when his father used to make Glo beats in FL Studio 10 and seeing his father do that heavily inspired him into doing his own production. With his father being his main inspiration, his style of music ranges from the likes of Skrillex, BenjiCold, TwerkNation28, AltoSGP, and many others.

In the future, the message that ivvys wants to push out to future generations, and in his own words has said,

[H]onestly, [I] wanna ripple both the underground and mainstream by showing them you can still be you, have your own forms of bounce and drumtalk, and STILL be as impactful as your favorite producers. [A]ll forms of art are appreciated in the world and [I] love expressing it no matter how much people hate. [A]ll will be understood soon. – ivvys, 2025.
