Interstate 10
Interstate 10 is a Contemporary Country Pop duo headed by the charismatic Ranger qualified Army Officers Justin Wright (Tallahassee, Florida) and Andrew Yacovone (Hollister, California). Their music incorporates traditional Country with modern beats and story lines, making it perfect for good-time listening.
While deployed to Afghanistan in 2014, friends and active-duty officers, Wright and Yacovone, debuted their first YouTube hit together, “Hometown Hero.” Their first song about longing for one’s hometown proved a compelling start for the guitar-playing friends. Together they continued to write both passionate and party-style Country music abroad and after their return home in late 2014.
On post-deployment leave in Byron Bay, Australia, the pair performed live for the first time at an impromptu show for a crowd of 100+ at the Falls Music Festival. It was the first of many impromptu performances for the two, as they took their music to Denver, Colorado Springs, and Nashville.
In July 2015, Interstate 10 began recording their full-length EP at The Spot Studios in Lakewood, CO. They released the EP and music video later that fall, after an exciting few months of hard work in the studio and live performances backed by a five-piece band.
Throughout their most recent deployment in February, with Andrew being in Kandahar and Justin in Baghram, near Kabul, the two have been hard at work. Justin has been in charge of battle tracking all of his unit’s missions, while Andrew has been an Executive Officer in charge of maintenance, logistics, and accountability in an Infantry Line Company. Despite the long arduous hours and long-distance, the two have managed to find time to write 11 songs during their off time. They often get together via a video teleconferencing system and stay up late writing songs.
The last few months for the two have been full of hard work, appreciation, and growth. They’ve had to adapt to a new environment, long-distance, and are determined to engage with their loved ones back home through their music. They released their song “I’m Gonna Miss You” as a Memorial Day tribute. The song and music video accumulated over 3.1 million views and was featured on ABC News, Fox Nation, HLN, Good Morning American and even the Howard Stern Show. The release led to over $25,000 in donations to the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation.
The two have been reunited in Baghram, and have since released their newest song, “Let’s Ride”. A summer anthem that’ll have you shaking the sand out of your hair for days, their newest single has been produced by Grammy Award winning producer Nathan Chapman (Taylor Swift, Keith Urban, Lady Antebellum, Rascal Flatts) and Kevin Kadish (Meghan Trainor). While still deployed and set to return in November, the two are working “Let’s Ride” into the ears of listeners across the country. Since the release, the song has been featured on 27 different radio stations, 2 official Spotify playlists, and have received multiple offers to headline and play shows across the country after they return. As opportunities continue to arise, they are already looking months ahead planning their next moves, with a couple of aces up their sleeves.
