Impetigo was an Illinois-based Grindcore and Death Metal band Also being a pioneer of the Goregrind Genre. They were among the first bands to use clips from films and other media as intros for their songs.

The band was named slow death until their first gig where Stevo saw on a pamphlet the word “Impetigo” and thought that it was badass so then renaming the band. Impetigo is a bacterial infection that involves the superficial skin.

The band only lasted 6 years, but their impact and influence on Grind and Death Metal bands was huge, and their songs have been covered many times.

Throughout their career, the band have only had 4 constant members.

Performed a reunion gig for the 20th anniversary of the band at Central Illinois Metalfest in 2007.
