In the 1990’s, Alex Ebert and Tim Anderson kickstarted their first band Ima Robot. They crushed a larger-than-life presence of hip-hop beats and grungy guitars through LA clubs and venues. After signing with Virgin, their sound underwent various changes, bringing in bass from Justin Meldal-Johnsen, Joey Waronker on drums and Oliver Goldstein on keys. As they faced ‘radio-friendly’ industry pressure, they covertly persisted producing hundreds of songs. After around 15 years of radio silence, Ima Robot returned in 2025 with the re-release of Another Man’s Treasure.
