Christian Shaw (born January 31, 1998), professionally known as Hi-C (alternatively known as Hi-C Touchdown, or High Cee), is an American record producer and artist hailing from the Nashville, Tennessee area.
Origins of his musical work came at the age of fourteen in 2011. He went by the stage name “Chris the Pharoah”, posting music through an alternative Soundcloud page, before creating his own under the newer name Crystvr the following year.
Christian later established the Hi-C stage name around 2016, while apart of the Reptilian Club Boyz collective. He shared in an interview from April 2023 that the name was chosen for him by his at-the-time boss, where he cited:
I worked in a concert hall, and the building used to be hot as shit. […] That shit makes me drowsy. It’s like seven in the morning, eight in the morning. I was probably like fucked up the night before, hungover or whatever. Go to work, I’m nodding off.
My boss is like, “Bro, if I could give you a nickname, it would be Hi-C”, because like, my real name starts with with a C, and this nigga just thought I was high all the time. And so I was like, you know what bruh? That would like be a hard ass name.
He’s also been apart of now defunct groups such as Ca$hed Cobruhz in 2015, and the infamous Reptilian Club Boyz, which he was a member of as early as 2016 before publicly detaching from the group entirely on March 23, 2021.
Hi-C is primarily known for his eccentric approach to music, utilizing video game sound effects and high-pitched audio as a forefront of his sound.
