Heymylan is an American rapper from Michigan. He specializes in an underground rap subgenre which he aptly names “mylancore,” after himself. He has released music under his current moniker since 2021, and such songs on SoundCloud as “Skinny jeans on” and “True” gained him modest recognition in the underground.

The mylancore subgenre has rapidly grown since then, with the song “Heymylan Beat,” released in February 2024 and characterized by its high-pitched synths and almost extra-terrestrial beat, gave Heymylan increased fame (and infamy, as many have been quick to criticize the beats that he raps on). He has also popularized samples from pornographic videos in mylancore, as heard in “Bang Bros.”

Although many of Heymylan’s previously-released songs have since been removed from all streaming platforms, he has opted to keep some, such as those from the album “19” and the EP “mylancore chapter 3 freestyle with gang,” on SoundCloud and certain streaming platforms.

Mylancore is similar to the “vamp” sub-culture and is connected to the “emo” sub-culture as well. The most prominent elements of mylancore include, but are not limited to, heavy bass, odd synths, dark lyrics, and occasionally even unorthodox flows. Since its rise in underground rap, other artists, such as VampViolence, mixxan, and PINKBLXXD, among many other people, have collaborated with Heymylan and created many mylancore songs.
