Heartless Crew
Heartless Crew, a trailblazing UK garage collective from North London, made a lasting impact on the grime music scene alongside So Solid Crew and Pay As U Go. Formed in 1992 by MC Bushkin and DJ Fonti at Holloway Boys School, the group expanded with the addition of Mighty Moe in college. Initially, the crew played a variety of genres like hip hop, R&B, and ragga before shifting their focus to UK garage. Their residency at Chimes nightclub in Hackney helped solidify their reputation as key players in the genre.
In the late ‘90s, the group rose to prominence through pirate radio stations like Mission 90.6 FM, where they blended R&B, jungle, and dancehall with UK garage. Their debut single, “The Heartless Theme” (Superglue Riddim), charted at number 21 in the UK in 2002, while their song “Why?” further showcased their sound. Despite a temporary split in 2010, the group reunited in 2016, headlining major events such as Garage Nation Festival, and performing at prestigious festivals like Snowbombing in Austria and Annie Mac’s Lost & Found Festival in Malta.
