Heart Bones is the supergroup pairing of Minnesotan Sean Tillmann (Har Mar Superstar) and Austin’s own Sabrina Ellis. The met and became friends while touring together in 2016. Throughout 2018, they travelled back and forth between their hometowns working on original songs. As Ellis described to Music Minnesota:

I feel like on this album, while the lyrics are still classic Sean or Sabrina kinda humorous, tongue-in-check, satirical, there’s a lot of emotional vulnerabilities in these songs. I’m calling it therapy pop.

While working on their original album, they were listening heavily to the Dirty Dancing soundtrack which eventually led to a November 2018 tour of them covering songs from the album.
