The Christian pop‑punk group Hangnail features guitarists/vocalists Matt Wendt and Nick Radovanovic, bassist/vocalist/songwriter Mike Middleton—four musically gifted young men.

Radovanovic and Dosemagen first played together at age eight in a band called Say What. In 1993, while all three were in the Bullen Junior High Jazz Band in Wisconsin, USA, they met Middleton and formed Hangnail. The lineup became complete in high school with the addition of Wendt.

After graduating in 1997, Hangnail performed on the Cornerstone New Band Showcase stage, turning a fun hobby into a serious pursuit. Extensive touring helped them build a strong following, and in 1999, they signed with BEC Records to release their self‑titled debut album.
