Grizzly Bear is an American alternative pop band from Brooklyn, New York, formed in 2002. The group began as the solo project of Boston-bred singer-songwriter Ed Droste (lead vocals, keyboards, guitar, omnichord, autoharp), taking the name from the nickname of an ex-boyfriend.

After his debut album, 2004’s Horn of Plenty, Droste was joined by Christopher Bear (drums, percussion, glockenspiel, xylophone, keyboards, lap steel guitar, backing vocals), Chris Taylor (bass guitar, backing vocals, keyboards, wind instruments, producer), and Daniel Rossen (lead vocals, guitars, keyboards, autoharp, banjo).
