‘Grey Storm’ is the stage moniker of Simon van Genderen. An 18 year old singer-songwriter from Etten-Leur, the Netherlands.

The project started in December 2016, but the first performances took place in June 2017. It started to become clear that there wasn’t much interest in singer-songwriters throughout the local music scene and that’s when Van Genderen decided to play open mic nights in cities like Utrecht and Amsterdam.

The performances turned out to be well received and the crowd as well as the open mic organisations requested that Van Genderen would come back from time to time, the biggest success yet being invited to play a headline show at ’t Oude Pothuys in Utrecht.

The sound has been compared to the likes of Milow, Jeff Buckley, Ed Sheeran and Bruce Springsteen as well as U2 and The Cure by various open mic organisers and the lyrics are generally being described as sincere and genuine. Van Genderen has stated that his lyrics are semi-autobiographical as well.
