Frog

Frog is a American indie band. The group was founded by Daniel Bateman and Thomas White in Queens, New York in 2012. They have released six studio albums through labels like Audio Antihero and their own Tapewormies imprint, which have received praise from Pitchfork, Stereogum, and The Line of Best Fit as well as airplay from KEXP, KCRW, European national radio, and various BBC stations.

The debut album studio self-titled was released on October 2th 2015.

The second album studio Kind of Blah was released on May 25th 2015.

Followed the album released, Frog was performed on England and Scotland to promote Kind of Blah. On this tour, they played a live session for Resonance FM, and were interviewed for Amazing Radio, in addition to performing in London, Colchester, York, Glasgow, and Edinburgh. One of the tour’s lineups included The Drink, and another was well reviewed by The Skinny. The tour was also filmed for the 2018 Kings of Blah documentary by Alex Coppola.

The third album studio Whatever We Probably Already Had It was released on November 30th, 2018

White relocated to England in 2019 and Frog’s, the fourth album studio Count Bateman was released on August 16th, 2019 was solo album from Bateman as a result.

Frog then went on hiatus due to changes in Bateman’s professional and personal circumstances but contributed a live version of “Rubbernecking” to the From the River to the Sea: The Terrible Truth About Palestine fundraiser compilation for the United Palestinian Appeal in 2021.

In 2019, White left the band and was replaced on drums by Bateman’s brother Steve.

4 years ago later, Frog returned in November 2023 and released the fifth album studio GROG, for which Steve Bateman formally joined as the band’s drummer.

In 2024, Frog released the single DID SANTA COME on December 8th, 2024, alongside an announcement for their sixth album, 1000 VARIATIONS ON THE SAME SONG, and North American tour. The sixth album studio 1000 VARIATIONS ON THE SAME SONG was released on February 14th, 2025.

The seventh album studio THE COUNT was released on September 19, marked to continue the series of 1000 VARIATIONS ON THE SAME SONG beginning in early 2025, introduces fans to a collection of braggadocious, explicit and sometimes parodic songs with strong hip-hop and rap influences.

On April 17th, Frog released their eighth studio album, Frog for Sale. A continuation of the series that began with 2025’s 1000 VARIATIONS ON THE SAME SONG and was followed six months later with THE COUNT (which found fans in Wednesday, Friendship, Dry Cleaning, and MJ Lenderman). These twelve songs see the brothers take inspiration from songwriters like Paul McCartney and Buddy Holly.
