Fontaines D.C. are an Irish post-punk/alternative rock band formed in Dublin in 2014, after the five members met as students at the city’s BIMM Music Institute. The band consists of Grian Chatten (vocals), Conor Curley (guitar), Conor Deegan III (bass), Tom Coll (drums) and Carlos O'Connell (guitar).

They are named after the crooning Jonny Fontane character in the first Godfather movie. The original band name was The Fontaines, but the initials “D.C.” – standing for Dublin City – were added upon discovering that there was already a Los Angeles band with the same name.
