Inkakai is a masked sextet from the US, Japan, and Finland. Embracing symbols instead of names, they define their genre as ‘Imperial’—a commanding fusion of alternative rock and nu metal, synthwave and Amiga 500s.

Its members have collaborated with icons like Max Martin, Steve Vai, and Lordi, contributing to two of Finland’s most-played songs (2006, 2010) and earning the NRJ Best Nordic Song award in 2007. Their debut album, ‘Burns Inside’, was released under the name Bleak in 2006, followed by their sophomore ‘The Dark Side’ as Fireal in 2011.

After a hiatus beginning in 2012, the band unveiled their anonymous masked concept in 2013. They returned in 2019 with ‘The Smoke’, their first single under the new identity, leading to a full rebrand as Inkakai in 2020. Their latest single, ‘Drown'—mixed by Tim Palmer (U2, Pearl Jam)—preludes their third full-length, 'Unlite’, with more releases to follow.

For over two decades, Inkakai’s black-and-red visuals have symbolized fire and shadow—echoed in their name, 陰火会 (Inka Kai), which translates to “Shadow Fire Assembly.” “Inka” refers to onibi in Japanese folklore—ghostly flames that arise from the souls of the dead, manifesting as fire.
