Fire Rising was an electronic rap metal duo (and sometimes three-piece) that was founded by vocalist Matthew Spencer and instrumentalist Wren. In March of 2017, just before the band started work on Not Tiny Anymore, Wren was replaced by Gavin Flame. After working on and releasing an EP (during which Wren briefly rejoined the band), the group introduced Duncan Suddarth as their drummer. Controversy erupted around Matthew near the end of 2017, causing Gavin to leave unexpectedly. The new lineup, now consisting of Matthew Spencer and Duncan Suddarth, released their 2nd EP in April 2018 before breaking up in early July.
