FDM

AKA: Fund'mental, Fundamental 03

FDM were a three-piece male R&B group from the UK, consisting of Varren ‘Baby V’ Wade, Kyle ‘Kyle Christopher’ Lettman & Jermaine Riley. The group was formed in London in 2003 and after achieving moderate success in the UK with singles “Jump” & “Playground” in 2006, they were signed to Geffen in 2007. Singer Ne-Yo had expressed a desire to develop them, having crossed paths multiple times at concerts before the Geffen deal. In 2008 he worked to set up a UK office for his record label & publishing house Compound Entertainment, and in January 2009 the trio were the first act to sign a management & production deal with the UK company.

An album titled “Backstage Pass” was recorded within a month, which saw them working extensively with Compound’s roster, as well as outside A-List writers and producers such as James Fauntleroy, Frank Ocean, StarGate, Tricky Stewart & Hit-Boy. A single, “Future In You”, written by Ne-Yo & produced by Rykeyz, was selected, but never officially released or promoted.

The project was shelved and never saw the light of day. The group ultimately split and went their seperate ways in 2010, the members going on to release solo material and write for artists such as Ella Mai, Fifth Harmony, Janet Jackson, Kid Ink & Keke Wyatt.
