Empyreal Sorrow is a melodic death metal band from Germany. The band officially formed in 2019, but its roots go back to 2014 when bassist/vocalist Sebastian Moser and guitarist Martin Hofbauer started recording some song ideas together. At the time Hofbauer was in another band and when that band split up the two started recording guitars in Mosers' studio, Grotesque Studios. The two recruited guitarist Markus Winter and drummer Julian Osterried. Lastly vocalist Martin Szeike joined the band.

By 2019 the band was all together and the instrumentals were written. Their debut album, Praey was released in 2020 and received great feedback.

The bands greatest influences are swedish death metal bands such as In Flames, Dark Tranquility, and Edge of Sanity.
