ElGrandeToto, whose real name is Taha Fahssi, is a Moroccan rapper born on August 3, 1996, in Casablanca. Raised in Benjdia, a central Casablanca neighborhood that he frequently references as “BNJ” in his music, he has become one of the leading figures of Moroccan and North African hip-hop. His music blends Moroccan Darija with French and Spanish, moving between trap, Afropop, amapiano and other contemporary influences.

ElGrandeToto has established himself as one of the biggest streaming artists to emerge from Morocco. He was the most-streamed artist in Morocco on Spotify for five consecutive years between 2021 and 2025, and previously reached the position of most-listened-to artist in the MENA region. By August 2026, publicly tracked Spotify data attributed approximately 1.49 billion streams to tracks on which he appears, including around 790 million streams as a lead artist. His international success has helped make Moroccan Darija rap increasingly visible outside North Africa.

His breakthrough was followed by several major milestones. In 2020, ElGrandeToto won the Best Hip-Hop/Rap Artist award at the African Entertainment Awards USA. His debut studio album, Caméléon, released in 2021, entered Spotify’s global album debuts ranking among the top six releases worldwide and helped establish him internationally. He followed it with his second studio album, 27, in 2023, featuring artists such as Hamza, Morad, Oxlade, Beny Jr, Rondodasosa and Unknown T.

ElGrandeToto was introduced to hip-hop culture at a young age by his older brother Soufiane Fahssi, who introduced him to krumping and hip-hop dance while they were growing up in Benjdia. After years of dancing, Toto gradually turned toward rap during the mid-2010s. Early releases such as 7elmet Ado helped introduce his style to Morocco’s emerging trap scene, while “Pablo”, released in 2017, became one of his first major viral successes and helped launch his professional career.

His career continued to expand with SALGOAT (Vol. 1) in 2024, followed by SALGOAT (Vol. 2) in June 2026. The latter features 17 tracks and collaborations with artists including Jolagreen23, Timar, Rounhaa, Najm, Zkr and Draganov. Later that month, he released SALGOAT (Vol. 2 – Extension), expanding the project to 27 tracks with additional appearances from artists including GIMS, Lola Indigo, Oumay, Charlotte Cardin and Sofiane Pamart.

In 2026, ElGrandeToto further strengthened his international profile, performing alongside Morad at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium during Mawazine, and releasing tracks including “LIBERTÉ,” “MON PAYS,” “NINJA” featuring GIMS, and “FOTO.” His next major international milestone is scheduled for March 27, 2027, when he is set to headline Paris' Accor Arena, marking another step in the international expansion of Moroccan rap.
