DJ Screw was an American hip-hop DJ and producer who was based in Houston, Texas. He was known for creating the famous chopped and screwed mixing technique.

DJ Screw’s inspiration has been prevalent in hip hop and rap music since he began sampling old tracks in the 1980s. Sampling lots of music from different songs, artists, and genres, he amassed hundreds of mixtapes called The Official Screw-Tape Mixtape Series.
