Divad Divine (born October 14th, 2006; age 19) is a Chicanx and Indigenous singer-songwriter, record producer, activist, dancer, director, film-maker, model, musician, playwright, poet, rapper, socialite, televangelist, television personality, and writer currently based in California.

Divine first rose to prominence in the early 2020s via their YouTube channel, Simply Divine TV. The channel featured a wide variety of content centered around Divine and their wacky antics, carefree lifestyle, intriguing storytimes, and flamboyant fashions. Divine’s often controversial presence on their various social media accounts garnered many more divinlings, the lovable name of their devoted fanbase.

Divine used this notoriety to catapult themself into the music industry in 2023, releasing the extended play, Itty-Bitty (The Demo Collection), which as the title may suggest, is a collection of four different demos of a track called Itty-Bitty, that had been both penned and produced by Divine themself in their home studio in Autumn 2022. Itty-Bitty was originally pitched to failed Russian pop artist Julie, as her debut single, however, the artist ended up rejecting the track. The record then made its way to Japanese idol group BIGANGEL, who turned it down as well. This prompted Divine to release all four demo versions they created of the song as an extended play under their own independent record label imprint, Simply Divine Recordings.

This decision would be the best that Divad Divine had ever made.

The project exploded with critical acclaim, becoming a cultural phenomenon, and earning a whopping 8.5 rating on now-defunct music review publication Pitchfork, as well as being named Best New Music on the site, becoming the first musical project released in 2023 to achieve both of these feats. Itty-Bitty (The Demos) was devoured by critics, who praised Divine’s vocal performance and production skills on the EP.

“Divad Divine truly outdid themself with this record. Their ability to seamlessly combine orchestral instruments with trap beats and electronic production whilst overlaying soaring and raw vocals on top together like a thousand-piece puzzle in a way that just makes sense is a tool that will forever engrave them in the pop culture wall of fame”, one critic wrote for Rolling Stone.

Most stars would have stopped or flopped right then afterwards. But Divad Divine is not like most stars.

With their one-dollar lip gloss tube in one hand and their iconic pink Château mini bag in the other, Divad Divine released DANGER!, their first mixtape, independently on February 2nd, 2024. The project deals with a variety of hard-hitting subjects that fail to be recognized in pop music today, with just a few of these topics including poverty, infidelity, reputation, partying, obsession, paranoia, loss, toxic relationships, fame, lying, mental health, and death, all told from the dreary and tired perspective of a young person living in modern-day America.

These hard truths span the record’s twelve tracks and are baked together to create a hot and grimy confection of teen angst and poetry received by the listener through anguished vocals, sizzling synths, haunting strings, and clever lyrics that will leave divinlings pondering and theorizing about for weeks to come.

Divine is currently working on a number of projects, both musical and not. Their debut studio album will be released in 2026.
