DISTORTED, who branded themselves as DISTORTED MATERIAL, is a Malaysian urban hip-hop and rap collective group was formed back in 2018. Known for its distinctive sounds and corporated by wide ranges of genre such as trap, hip-hop and even R&B. Since they were signed under a sub-label by Someday Records which is also a part of Universal Music Malaysia and also local hip-hop community which is DefJam Asia. Due to the agreement and the condition term of getting the group signed into the label, the group has to go from 6 members and cut into 3 which forms a trio group consists of Sino, Balo and Eneyeqay, while the other past members were Jazzmi, Helloluqman and Jet. They started releasing their songs back in 2019 which were “ Moments ”, “ Realiti ”, “ Hutan ”, “ Outie ” and “ lastly ” Extasy “ while during covid strikes back in 2020, the group released their 2 final singles which were ” Backday “ and ” Medusa “ collaborated with C.H.Q.Y and Medusa was marked as their final single performing as 6 members in the group. However the following year 2021, there were no more singles release by the group and were presumably went into two years of hiatus due to working on an album project. By this time, they were signed to a label and goes by trio. As by June 2023, they debuted themselves as trio through a single named ” SWITCH “ and later on ” GONE “ by the following month. One of their members, Balo has stated during his podcast in Borak Space! as Iqie Insomniacks stated that his other group DISTORTED has been working on an album but has no plans on releasing it yet. However, it might be expected that the album sound might be different than their oldest works with brand new crafted sounds and more upbeat. They also had teased some of the new tracks snippets through their Instagram account and features alot of artists in their album, some talented artists were featured including ASYRAF NASIR, Yonnyboii, Joek, KillaDriz, AbangSapau, Lil J and even featured their past original bandmates, Jazzmi and Helloluqman.
