Born in Toronto’s east end, Devontée is solidifying himself as one of the most original sounds of Canada’s next top music stars. Son of Jamaican father & Canadian mother, he was encouraged as a child to dream big & work hard. Devontée would be performing at every open mic across the GTA & Southern states While becoming ranked #1 left tackle in Canada high school football. His passion for music drew him away from a guaranteed football career & towards music. Wanting to learn all aspects of music, he enrolled at Metalworks Institute graduating in 2014 for production & engineering Releasing his first self produced/written album ‘Devontée by Devontée’ in 2013 helped gain attention of others leading him to create & release his first viral song “Bare Tings” off of project ‘District Vibe’ which featured Joey Bada$$ & production from Boi 1da. Coining the motto W.O.E. (Working on Excellence) It describes his journey beyond music bringing opportunities to collaborate with Stephen Curry & Under Armour for signature WOE x Curry 6 shoe. Consistently releasing music & visuals Devontée collaborated with Bridgit Mendler & Canadian icon Kardinal Offishall for his next album “Head Gone”. Gracing Spotify’s Northern Bars cover fall 2019 with his single Cherry from the album “With, Love” featuring Strick of YSL & production from TikTok super producer KyleYouMadeThat who produced His 5th project “Take This In” amassing millions of streams during his career thus far. “Out The Blue” OTW
He has connections with many Canadian athletes, as well as famous American ones like Kevin Durant. He is the cousin of Aeyesha Curry, wife of NBA superstar Steph Curry. He is featured in their remix to Drake’s 0 to 100 / The Catch Up, taking a hand in producing and writing in it.
